McAfee offers to fix crashed PCs
April 27, 2010
Internet security firm McAfee is providing technical and financial assistance to customers whose PCs were crashed due to a faulty update last week.
The security update, released by the firm on April 21, deleted an important Windows file - affecting the computers.
McAfee said in its official blog that users who failed to fix the problem themselves can now call a free telephone number for technical assistance.
If the problem persists, users will be sent another software update. And if even that does not work, the company will deliver a fresh CD to the affected users.
Meanwhile, the firm is also offering "reasonable" reimbursement to users who incurred costs in an effort to resolve the problem with the help of a third party.
It has also been announced that subscribers who plan to continue using McAfee's antivirus software despite their PC problems will be given a free two-year extension to their subscription.
